Product description

Nailaka is not just a normal basket: the water hyacinth used is artfully woven in a zigzag shape into a sturdy metal frame, making it a real eye-catcher. Thanks to this frame, it is particularly stable and makes it easy for you to transport your laundry on washing days.

But Nailaka offers even more! With its different sizes, it is also ideal for other purposes. Use it as a decorative object to create a cozy atmosphere in your living room, bathroom or kitchen. It simply fits everywhere and blends seamlessly into any interior. Use this handmade basket made of untreated natural fibres to add a charming and natural touch to your home.

Measurements & weight:

(Height (without handles) x Diameter)

M: 35x35 cm; 1,40 kg
L: 40x40 cm; 1,60 kg

Our products are artfully crafted individual pieces. They may vary slightly in size, color and shape due to the production by hand and natural variations in materials.

Main material: Water Hyacinth

Our baskets are made from plant fibers. They therefore wonderfully smell and feel like nature.

The water hyacinth is a tropical aquatic plant that grows on rivers and lakes. It actually comes from South America, but was also introduced in Southeast Asia. There it is considered a weed because it multiplies incredibly quickly and can cover entire bodies of water with a carpet of leaves. The resulting lack of light and oxygen causes all life underwater to die, which is why the plants have to be removed regularly. In order to prepare the plants for further processing, the leaves are cut off and the thick stems are dried in the sun for three to seven days. The result is a sustainable raw material that is available in abundance for many woven goods here at Soeji!
