Product description

Bring a tropical vibe to your dining table with the rectangular Kuara raffia placemat. It is woven by hand in elaborate detail work with the complicated needle technique. The fine material is robust, but still soft and flexible. The generous dimensions of 50x30 cm leave more than enough space for plates and cutlery.

Kuara is available as a set of 2, 4 or 6.

Measurements & weight:

Length x width: 50x30 cm
Weight: 0,18kg per piece

Our products are artfully crafted individual pieces. They may vary slightly in size, color and shape due to the production by hand and natural variations in materials.

Main material: Raffia

Our placemats are made from plant fibres. They therefore wonderfully smell and feel like nature.

Raffia (Corypha utan) occurs naturally in the steppe and forest areas of Southeast Asia. About every two years, the plant renews its leaves and sheds the old ones, which are then collected by humans, dried in the sun for a few days to weeks, depending on the desired degree of browning, and processed into wicker goods. The relative rarity and higher processing costs make this material slightly more expensive compared to other plant fibers. While it is hardly known in Europe, the material has proven itself among the local population in Southeast Asia in the form of all kinds of everyday objects and is very popular due to its pleasantly soft yet robust nature.
