Product description

The accurately cut, square shape of our placemat Varna sets it apart from our other, mostly round or rectangular models. The material used is hand-tied seagrass fibres in a radial pattern. The simple black color of the seagrass blends harmoniously into almost any living environment and creates a special ambiance. It not only gives Varna a unique texture, but also a natural elegance that enhances any dining table.

The next time you organize a dinner for family or friends, Varna will effortlessly become the highlight of the table setting thanks to these properties. Varna is very easy to care for: as the fibres are not tightly woven into each other but are only bound in three places, the spaces in between can be easily reached for cleaning.

Measurements & weight:

Length x width: 36x36 cm
Weight: 0.07 kg per piece

Our products are artfully crafted individual pieces. They may vary slightly in size, color and shape due to the production by hand and natural variations in materials.

Main material: Seagrass

Our placemats are made from plant fibers. They therefore wonderfully smell and feel like nature.

What is usually referred to as “seagrass” by basket makers is actually not an (under) water plant, but a small, palm-like plant that is widespread on sandy beaches in the tropics of Asia. The leaves of the plants, which are often cultivated by humans, are separated, cut into strips, dried and then processed by hand.
